This project is just starting to pick up some steam. Jason from Sentinel contacted us recently to talk about a new business he was building. He was specifically interested in marketing materials and branding advice. As the discussion progressed we began to talk about websites, and Internet strategy.
The neat thing was that he already had a pocketful of neat products ready to rollout, and a number of folks who were already interested in working with him. He was already planning to setup up seminars, webinars, and round table discussions. We talked about the level of urgency to get “things rolling” and decided that we needed to develop a very basic professional presence right away. To begin doing business, Sentinel Financial Coaching would need a logo, business cards, domain name, email, and at least a very basic web presence.
The Strategy: (Version 1)
Since the business was off and running almost prior to having a name, we decided we would first spend the time to get the branding right. This meant we needed to get the logo design and color choices decided upon. Sentinel was born from a passion to want to work alongside people, and help them see further into their financial future than they are currently capable of. This led us to the concept of using a lookout tower as the bug for the logo.
(Side note: A logo “bug” is a small part of the corporate logo that when people see it they recognize your brand immediately without the need for your complete logo. Think Apple’s apple, or AT&T’s globe, or even NBC’s peacock. These are all great examples of a logo bug.)
After a couple of weeks of back and forth, revisions, and reviews Sentinel was happy with their new logo. In the meantime we setup the corporate domain name, email accounts, and started laying out a basic web landing page. Once this was completed we could start developing standard marketing materials like business cards, etc. Sentinel Financial Coaching was off and running!
The Design: (Version 2)
The web is so fun to work with, as we can revise published works anytime we like. So, unlike a magazine or book we can get a version published while we are concurrently working on its replacement. We are now working on a very substantial web presence for Sentinel. The new website is being designed as a fully responsive site that will present well on all devices, and will feature Social connections along with a web blog showcasing how Sentinel can help you achieve your goals. We’re excited to be developing this new site, and expect it to be live before the second quarter of 2016. Stay tuned!
